Kappore "
Kappore is a male dance. When samurai ruled
Japan, Tokyo was called Edo. This dance is
street performance which was very popular when
the period was changing from Edo to Tokyo. The
theme of the dance was whatever was in fashion
at that time.

"
Yoidore " ___ A Drunkard
In Edo festival, people dance funny to the merry
music with fiutes and drums. A man who is on his
way home from a festival is stumbling along the
street over a bottle of Sake. After he finished
the bottle, he fell asleep. But suddenly loud
music woke him up and he starts dancing.

Kaminari " ___ Thunder
Japan used to be a religiously diverse country
and people believed there were many kind of
gods. Ther felt there were so many gods such as
god of the sea, god of the mountain, and god of
the fire who protects the stove. People believe
that rolling thunder has emotions like a human
being and it is a kind of god in human from
which can control the rain and the wind. That's
why Japanese people feel the sky cries when it
rain and the sky is angry when it thunders. That
is deeply impacted by their agriculture.
There is a man who knows is a bad doctor. He can
not live in a big city anymore and he is
planning to move to the country side where there
are few doctor and he will be able to make more
mony there. Suddenly, " a thunder " who was
playing around on the clouds missed his step and
fell down to the ground. He will not be able to
go back to the sky since he hits his hip and
hurts so bad. Then he finds this doctor doesn't
have any medicine such as acupuncture. Finally,
the doctor can treat his hip so he asks if the
thunder could be his reward. The thunder has no
material offerings to give him. The thunder
tries to introduce him to his younger sister as
his wife. But the doctor doesn't show interested
in what the thunder offered. Therefore, the
thunder says if he has a wish he will make his
wish come true. The doctor says he wants to get
power and make excessive profits. The thunder
gets angry to hear that and he insists wish
should be useful for other people. then, the
doctor asks him to bring a big crop of rice by
controlling the rain and the wind. The thunder
agrees to it and he promises to keep it that way
for one century, and he goes back to the
sky.

"
Shishimai " ___ Lion
Dance
It is a dance which remains in various parts of
Asian countries. People believed that if strong
lion roar loud, bad things like sickness,
harmful insects will be gone.

"
Kurokami " ___ Black Hair
This is a female dance. There is a "
Makurabyobu_folding screen " on a stage. This
folding screen is usually set in the corner of
the bedroom and when she makes the bed by laying
out a mattress and bed clothes on a tatami
floor, it is moved near the head of the bed. She
has a lover. He came to see her last night, but
she doesn't know if he can visit her tonight.
His scent was still remained on her gown which
she put on when she slept with him. sHe is eager
that he would come to visit with her. It starts
to snow outside before she knows it.
